How do you know you’re not a robot

Could you prove that you’re not a machine? Technology is all around us, and each generation seems more integrated with it than the last. Still, we have always assumed that as flesh and blood creatures we’re somehow different from – and better than – machines. But are we really? Where exactly does technology end and biology begin? And if it turned out that you were actually a machine of some kind, would it make your existence less valuable? Let’s see how far logic, language, and self-awareness can bring us in finding our own true nature.

EXISTENTIAL TUESDAYS

Existential Tuesdays are small bi-weekly discussions in the Nook of the TUD Library. Practice your critical thinking skills, learn to see the world from different perspectives, and hang out with your fellow deep thinkers in Delft.

Check out SG’s related events this quarter on the theme: Intimacy and Technology

This quarter at SG, we’re taking a deeper look at the connections we have with and through technology. Technology is becoming ever more intimately involved in our lives and has enormous potential to bring us closer together. But can technology truly offer an intimate experience?

This theme is part of the series For Love of the World, in which we explore alternative stories and forgotten knowledge that can (re)connect us to our world.
